~ More Infernal Cold & House Hunting ~

It's been a while since I've written. It just sort of slipped by - but it didn't get any warmer. The infernal cold is back and it STILL sucks mightily.

It snowed again yesterday. I'm so tired of this bullshit cold I could just scream. I'm tired of wearing enough clothes for three people because it's so damned cold. Just stop with the nasty weather already and GIVE US SPRING!!

DAMMIT!

This past month I've spent hunting for houses. It's been interesting. One weekend Molly and I drove all over town (quite literally - we were out for about 6 hours driving and walking all over the city) looking at places. She was really tired when we got home - we stopped at a lot of places and walked all over a bunch of neighborhoods.

The more I look the more I know what I want - some land. That's pretty much why I want to move in the first place - I want my garden and I want my yurt in the yard.

My condo is up for sale but I think I may end up renting it if I find a house before it sells. It's not a seller's market and I don't want it to sit empty if I can get someone to pay the mortgage on it. Keeping it empty and paying for it isn't real intelligent. Especially if I have another house payment to make. Oy!

It really sucks having everything put away and hardly any of my books and no sewing stuff. I'm about to go crazy! This weekend I cooked like a fiend because it's about the only thing I can do. Most of my books are packed away and my sewing machine is put up. If I drug all that stuff out, I'd just have to put it up every morning in case someone wanted to look at my place. And I don't feel like doing that.

So I'm just chomping at the bit to be able to do something besides clean and pack. Like I want to SEW! I've pulled out some old pillow cases that I will embroider just to keep me from commiting hari-karoke. It's just insane.

I have hardly any plants, hardly any books, nothing to sew and just a few pillow cases to embroider. It's maddening!

Mostly I just hate this feeling of limbo. Waiting for my place to sell - waiting for the place I want to appear. Just waiting and hoping it all works out in the end. I'm not good at waiting - never have been.

I'm trying to make the best use of it that I can by cleaning and packing but those aren't very relaxing past times (to me). I'd much rather sew or embroider to relax.

Of course I'm still skating and taking my violin lessons. I've been bad and not practiced a whole lot. In the course of my mad painting attack I managed to strain my rotator cuff so it hurts to hold my arm up for any length of time. (How dumb is THAT? Strained the damned thing painting but apparently that's a pretty common injury).

As for work - well, my co-worker is leaving and there is going to be a month where nobody is taking his place. So lucky me (HA!) I get to do his job AND mine until the new person starts and then I get to limp along with the new person for a few months. And I only get my pay.

To add to the excitement, we have about 4 MAJOR projects during this time (regulatory changes so they can't be ignored or postponed) so I should be one frazzled beyotch come the end of March.

Well, I can only do what I can do and it doesn't matter if there's 3 inches of water over your head or 3 FEET - either way, you're still drowned. More stones.

Some people have just decided that they want to take this opportunity to be as dumb as possible, too. I mean just doing dumb assed things they KNOW better than to do. Like totally ignoring every SOP and sneaking around in an attempt to find someone to help them bypass said SOPs.

Like this joker decides that he's made all of these promises and calls ME to help him bypass these SOPs. Not only THAT but he flatly REFUSES to speak to my manager when I tell him that she needs to know what's going on. His answer? "Oh, no. This is a very special project - a very special request for you. You must help me."

Ah, no. The only thing I "must" do is die and pay taxes. Everything else is optional. Especially helping THIS clown who couldn't find his ass with both hands and a spotlight.

He refused to send an email with his request and I told him I wasn't doing squat until I had it in writing. He didn't want it in writing and he didn't want my manager to know - sound suspicious? Oh yeah. Turns out he had already tried this little stunt before and was slapped down by the higher ups.

So he thought he'd go right to the source and keeper of the info and have it changed to suit his needs. Nope. Girl don't play that game with losers like that. (Now if it had been Natalia - she of the sexy Russian accent - I probably would have considered it.) But this guy is just an idiot of the first order.

He's one of those sky is falling morons who doesn't know what he wants but he NEEDS it NOW or he will just DIE!!!! Yeah. Whatever.

Now that my manager knows about it, they are trying to figure out who gave this "order" (did it come from on high or did this moron just get a hair up his ass?) and sort it out. If this moron just got a hair up his ass then he's in for another smack down. If it came from "on high" then "on high" needs to realize there is a lot more to this than they imagined.
